“Move, Engage and Assess” McKeesport Area School District is involved in the ongoing process of redesigning our teacher evaluation system to include professional development, student achievement, central office administration involvement at the building level and data to look at areas of student and teacher strengths and needs.
April of 2010 a committee of board members, teachers and administrators was created to look at the teacher observation and evaluation process to determine how student achievement could become a part of the evaluation method. Many areas were addressed and the outcomes varied, but the end result was a teacher evaluation process that includes student achievement. All items and activities that have been instituted and developed have been put into place to increase student achievement.
McKeesport Area School District believes that every adult involved in the child’s life should always be moving, engaging and assessing. The process is an inclusive process that can involve administrators, teachers and coaches; the process is to improve teaching and increase student achievement. Data is collected with an online tool that allows all data to be centralized and evaluated so that professional development can be achieved based on observed needs. The professional development that is conducted in McKeesport will be developed based on the needs of the staff.
